Living Our Lives Together With COVID-19

Saturday, March 14, 2020

Things are moving very fast concerning COVID-19 in our culture. Since I sent you my most recent email and video yesterday, President Trump has declared a national state of emergency. Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti has declared that there can be no gatherings over 50 people.

Please note the following:

  • We will live-stream one service at 9:30am that you can watch live with your family online. This service will then be available to watch as usual anytime after that.

  • Small groups, if you are available to invite your small groups to watch it (provided they are not sick), please do!

  • To watch the livestream, go to the YouTube live stream link at around 9:30am.

  • If you can't join us right at 9:30am, then watch it when you can. The service will be available on our website shortly after the service ends for viewing anytime later, as usual.

  • There will be no Kids' Place, no EPICC Youth ministry, and no nursery available.

  • There will be no 8am intercessory prayer. Please gather with your family and pray in your home.

I will share with you six actions you can take to PANIC-PROOF YOUR LIFE SO THAT YOU CAN EXPERIENCE THE DEEP PEACE OF GOD that will free you to LOVE HIM AND LOVE OTHERS. I ask you to stay home and worship with us and listen to God's Word as I teach it to you.

PANIC-PROOF is what God wants us to be.  He will show us how to deal with the panic, fear, and anxiety that Satan wants you to feel instead of God's peace.

I love you more than you know. I am sending you these videos and e-blasts for your well-being and safety, as well as our entire CVCHURCH family, and our community.

God bless you and I look forward to our time together on-line. We do this for the advancement of God's Kingdom because we love Him and we love our neighbors.

In His Love,

Dear CVCHURCH Family,

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Universities closed their classes and moved online.

  • Professional and collegiate sports leagues suspended their seasons.

  • Churches over 1,000 moved to live-streaming.

  • Major theme parks closed for the first time since the 9/11 attacks.

  • Gatherings of over 250 stopped meeting.

As of Friday, March 13th, according to there are no confirmed cases in Glendale, only 32 confirmed in L.A. County, and only 1 death (and that from a non-resident). Because we want you to walk in faith and not in fear, here are the steps we encourage you to follow so that we may provide you with a safe space to worship on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:30am:

  1. Join us in prayer! We are praying to our Father that He end this virus. God hears us when we pray and He responds.

  2. If you have flu symptoms or simply don't feel well, stay home. If you have family members who are ill, stay home. Watch us live at home at 9:30 and 11:30am. We will stream the entirety of both services on YouTube and from our website using a new "watch live" link.

  3. When you arrive Sunday, pick up your own bulletin on the foyer table. Hand sanitizer will be available there, our janitors will sanitize the bathrooms and classrooms, and we will use gloves to wipe surfaces again before you arrive.

  4. Continue to give of your tithes and offerings. Instead of passing plates, use the foyer offering boxes or the offering plates on the foyer table. You also may give electronically on the website or by texting CVCHURCH to 77977.

  5. Consider giving over and above your tithes and offerings to the CVCHURCH benevolence fund so that we may help those who may experience financial hardship due to the virus.

  6. If you feel well, attend your small group, Celebrate Recovery, EPICC youth, and Kid's Place events and continue meeting with your brothers and sisters for prayer, discussion of my weekly teachings, and to love and care for one another.

For more information, visit the Glendale COVID-19 website. Here are more practical steps that city health officials recommend:

  • Stay home if you have symptoms like fever or          cough.

  • Regularly wash your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds. Have plenty of soap available.

  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

  • If you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with your sleeve or a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Call your primary care physician if symptoms develop.Don't show up to your doctor or hospital without calling first.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.

  • Clean surfaces that are touched often.

  • Plan for the possibility of business disruptions, school closures, and cancellations of public events.

  • Practice social distancing that limits your exposure to those who may be ill.

  • Greet each other verbally in place of handshakes and hugs.

  • Do not share utensils, cups, or linens.

  • Try to stay six feet apart from others at public events.

  • If you have chronic health issues, especially if you are elderly, seek evaluation by a medical professional.

Father God is for you! He is behind you, beside you, around you, and inside you. In Jesus' name, may He Bless you, protect you, and may you experience daily his smile and affection. May His grace and favor be yours in abundance and may He give you His peace. May God's healing deliver our planet from this pandemic quickly. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

I look forward to being with all of you, our CVCHURCH family, either in person or via the live stream this Sunday!

In His Love,

Pastor Scott
