Never what you expect, CVCC is a “4 square” church that makes sense

So, what is 4 Square all about?  Actually, it isn’t 4 square at all, but Foursquare.  It’s a church that believes that Jesus is true and real.  And it encapsulates that belief in four groups or “squares”, that Jesus is truly the savior, that he baptizes with the holy spirit, that he is the healer and that he is the soon and coming king.

This is a very unique place that intentionally finds the reality of God in every day life.  That he created us for relationship, for love, is the driving premise behind everything else.  Most people see a church now a days and don’t even pause, considering it to be a hallmark of a day long since past.  But not only is the local church viable, it is a vibrant center to every community, working to walk alongside every person and discover what it is to lead a healthy life.

A "4 square" church may seem even more unusual.  In part due to its name, people have immediate questions.  But this is a church that lives and breathes love for the people of its community.

The idea that Jesus is the savior comes to bear in the place that says we have learned how God designed us and that there is a path we can follow to experience health in our everyday lives.  Every day each of us is confronted with difficult choices – many of which make us feel better in the moment but often result in negative repercussions at a later date.  When God made us, he let us make those decisions.  But because He made us, he didn’t let us fall on our faces – he built a way for us to overcome our unhealthy tendencies – that is in the person of Jesus; God coming to earth himself to show us how it goes, how to live.  That is Jesus as savior.  Meeting every person wherever they are today is an unexpected thing for God to do, but that is what he’s trying to do every day with each of us – standing outside our door, gently knocking and waiting for us to open up to him.  Once we do that, he can show us how to walk through this life.

Unexpected?  You bet.
